BLUFFTON, Ohio - Your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Bluffton University on Wednesday, October 6th to take on the Beavers. The Beavers got ahead early and held on through the final minutes to secure a 2-1 victory.
To kickoff play the Lions crowded the net early getting 3 shots off in the first 7 minutes of play but could not find the net. The Beavers took the lead in the 32nd minute of play giving them a 1-0 advantage. Goalkeeper
Matthew Hibbard (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) played tremendous in the first despite allowing a goal. Hibbard managed 9 saves in the first half giving the Lions a chance to equalize after halftime.
After halftime, the Lions took more of an offensive approach in an attempt to equalize. After a pair of shots to start the half from the Lions, the Beavers countered and scored a goal of their own lifting the lead to 2-0. Joshua Bailey (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) found the net in the final minute of the contest off a pass from
Luis Martinez Velez.
The Lions scored in the final seconds of the game, not allowing them to equalize with the final score showing 2-1 in Bluffton's favor.
Joshua Bailey led the Lions with 4 shots and 1 goal.
Matthew Hibbard finished the game with 9 total saves while allowing 2 goals.
