Three Lions Score 20+ Points as The Mount defeats Anderson

CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Saturday, December 4th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions welcomed the Ravens of Anderson University to the Harrington Center. The Lions exploded in the 2nd quarter scoring 28 points opposed to Anderson's 16 to give them a 47-37 lead heading into the break. The third quarter slowed down for each team but in the 4th the Lions would again score 28 points. The Ravens ran into fall trouble late in the 4th quarter and eventually ran out of players to sub in leaving them with 4 players on the court for the final minute of play. The Lions behind 20+ point showings from Maddie Habethy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy), Chloe Jansen (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Anyiah Murphy (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Africentric Secondary) surged past the Ravens 89-76.

In the first quarter of play the Lions were mostly playing from behind in a close game. Chloe Jansen got the Lions started with a 3-point bucket on their first possession. But, the Ravens would answer right back with 5 quick points giving them a 5 point lead. The Lions would fight back to tie the game but could never grab a solid lead. After one quarter of play the Ravens held a 21-19 lead.

In the second quarter the Lions became much more efficient from the field. The Lions would start the half on a 24-9 run thanks to the duo of Chloe Jansen and Maddie Haberthy. In the quarter the Lions shot 75% from the field and 57% from beyond the arc. The Lions took control of the lead early and never looked back heading into the break with a 47-37 lead.

In the third quarter of play each team cooled down offensively. The teams combined for a total of 23 points in the quarter with the Lions scoring 14 to hold on to their lead.

In the fourth quarter both offenses would begin to click. In the quarter a combined 58 points were scored, 28 from The Mount. This time Anyiah Murphy joined the party helping the Lions control their lead heading into the final minutes of play. The Ravens struggled in the fourth with foul trouble. With just under a minute remaining the Ravens would run out of bench players due to players fouling out.
