Box Score Terre Haute, Indiana- The Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana to take on Rose Hulman in a Wednesday evening showdown. The Lions come into this game red hot with a conference record of 4-1. Rose Hulman entered the matchup with a 2-3 record in conference. In an extremely competitive matchup the Lions were able to take a road win in their Wednesday bout with the Fighting Engineers.
For the first time of the season the Lions were taken to 5 sets 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 19-17. Despite the first time going into 5 sets the Lions were able to leave Rose Hulman victorious.
The Lions win was in part thanks to fantastic play from Freshman Emily Abshire (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Miami Valley Christian Academy) who had a team and career high 27 kill performance. However this impressive performance would not have been possible without the help of Sam Buschur (Maineville, Ohio/ Little Miami) who also had a season high 52 Assists. Along with the before mentioned huge statistical evenings the Lions had two more players that posted double digit kills. Brooke Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio/ Tipp City) finished her evening with 12 total kills while Grace Young (Harrison, Ohio/ Harrison) added 11 kills for the Lions.
