Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio - Your Mount St. Joseph Lions hosted the Beavers of Bluffton University Wednesday night. Both teams attacked early with all four goals occurring in the first half. Along with goals were fouls in the game, there was a total of 5 yellow cards in the match, 3 for The Mount and 2 for Bluffton.
To start the first half the Beavers got an early goal just 8 minutes into play with a cross into the box followed by tap into the bottom left hand corner to make it 1-0 Beavers. The Lions didn't waste much time answering back though scoring just 4 minutes later. The ball found the head of Freshman
Tristen Miller who made a beautiful pass to Freshman
Michael Abel who then put the ball in the bottom left hand corner of the net tying the score at 1-1.
The teams would then trade shots before Bluffton took the advantage again. Roughly halfway through the first half in the 24th minute the Beavers successfully cleared the Lions' corner which ended in a breakaway goal moving the score to 2-1. The teams would then trade a pair of shots each before the Lions would strike again. In the 36th minute Freshman
Luis Martinez Velez sent a long through ball from the midfield which found the Freshman phenom
Michael Abel who again put the ball in the back of the net tying the game up at 2. The Beavers would answer with 3 shots before the half but none of them found the net making the score 2-2 at the half.
To start the second half the Lions got an early penalty kick in response to a foul in the box. Freshman
Luis Martinez Velez took the shot as the Beavers' keeper made an amazing save keeping the score tied in the 48th minute. Each team stayed quiet for most of the half but with 4 minutes remaining the Lions'
Joseph Stark from about 26 yards out put a shot to the top left corner of the net as the Beavers' keeper made another great save, preserving the score. At the end of regulation the score was still tied at 2-2.
In the first period of overtime the Lions scattered the goal with 4 shots but none were on target and after 10 minutes the score was still the same. In the second period of overtime with about 7 minutes remaining the Lions sent a ball into the box which was batted down by the keeper but straight to the foot of Freshman
Tristen Miller. Miller then had a shot with no keeper to the bottom left hand corner. But, the Beavers defender made an acrobatic play sliding to the corner of the goal preserving the score once again. After 2OT the score showed the same as the first half 2-2.

Michael Abel continues to show stellar play totaling 4 goals and an assist in his last 2 games, scoring 2 goals on 4 shots tonight. Fellow Freshman
Luis Martinez Velez and
Joseph Stark also tallied 4 shots on the game for the Lions.
