Weimer explodes for 4 goals as the Mount defeats Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - On Saturday, March 27th your Mount St. Joseph Lions traveled to North, Manchester, Ind. to take on the Spartans of Manchester. The Lions were tied at the half but Senior Jodie Weimer (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) took control finishing with 4 goals and led the Lions to victory.

The Lions began the game by controling the ball on the offensive side of the pitch. Before the Spartans could even get a shot off the Lions had 7 shots, 4 on target, and a goal. Senior Jodie Weimer netted the first goal in the 29th minute giving the Lions a 1-0 advantage. But shortly after, the Spartans would get that goal back with their first shot of the contest finding the net, equalizing the score at 1 in the 35th minute. Heading into halftime the score remained the same.

To start the second half the Lions repeated what they did in the first half, clutter the net with shots. Weimer was not stopping there because 2 minutes later she found the net again extending the Lions lead to 3-1. The Lions continued to control the game, spending most of their time firing shots. In the 74th minute Weimer found the net for a 4th time giving the Lions a 4-1 lead. Manchester responded with a goal of their own in the 75th minute trimming the Lions lead to 4-2. The Lions were not done yet though. This time it was another Senior Lauren Haynes (Hamilton, Ohio/Ross) with the goal assisted by Freshman Poetrie Bedgood (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) in the 89th minute to seal the game for the Lions. At the final whistle the Lions were victorious by a score of 5-2.
