TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Rose-Hulman to take on the Fightin' Engineers to kickoff HCAC play. Each squad scored in the 1st half but the Fightin' Engineers pulled away in the 2nd defeating the Lions 3-1.
The Fightin' Engineers got on the board first in the 23rd minute of play giving Rose-Hulman the early lead. The LIons would respond quickly scoring just 2 minutes later in the 25th minute of play.
Michael Abel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) netted his 2nd goal of the season off a pass from freshman
Willis Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle). Rose-Hulman responded with a trio of shots all saved by goalkeeper
Matthew Hibbard (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor). After 45 minutes of play the score was tied at 1.
After halftime the Fightin' Engineers got on the board quickly in the 47th minute to retake the lead. Rose-Hulman continued to control the offensive side of the pitch scoring again in the 58th minute to stretch their lead to 3-1. But, the Lions were never able to find their footing on the offensive end as Rose-Hulman came out victorious 3-1. The Lions finished with 7 shots, 5 on target, and the lone goal from Abel.
