Cincinnati, Ohio—Following a tough week one loss the Mount St. Joseph University Football program looks to rebound against another tough out of conference opponent. On Saturday, September 11 the Lions will play host to Alfred University. Alfred enters this game with an 0-1 record, following their home loss to Hobart College 35-3.
The Lions Defense will continue to serve as a strong suit for the upcoming match-up. After a week in which the Lions defense forced three turnovers they will look to duplicate their efforts. A player to watch in this upcoming game is Junior Corner, DeShawn Starks. Starks had a standout performance on the defense in last weeks game pulling down two interceptions. Sophomore Linebacker Anthony Wright led the defense in tackling totaling 11 tackles and forcing a fumble.
The offense will build upon a strong showing. Quarterback Josh Taylor had a great game completing 22 passes for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns, while adding 116 yards rushing. A lot of the success in the passing game can be attributed to the HCAC offensive player of the week, Austin Brock. Against Albion Brock registered 11 receptions for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns.
