CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Wednesday October 12, the Mount St. Joseph Women's Volleyball team defeated the Hanover Panthers in three straight sets to improve their record to 16-4. The lions move on remaining a perfect 4-0 record in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Mount would go on to win the first set of the matchup by the score of 25-19. The Lions would finish the set with 13 kills while having a .360 hitting percentage. In the second set of play, the Lions would find themselves in a battle. After trailing 17-13 in the set, the Lions were able to put on a run of their own and end up closing set two with a 28-26 win. In the final set, the Lions were able to pull off a historic 16-1 run to close out the Panthers. The Lions were able to finish with 46 kills on the night while hitting .207 from the floor.
Senior
Brooke Aselage led the Lions with 11 kills on the night.
Ruthie Bingham and
Morgan Whitaker also finished with a respectable 9 kills.
Defensively, Aselage and Libero
Erin Androne were each able to have a team high 11 digs. Aselage was also able to add two blocks on the night while Junior
Grace Young added 3 blocks of her own.
The Lions will look to build upon their perfect HCAC season as they travel to Franklin, Indiana on Friday to take on the Grizzles of Franklin College. The Match is set to start at 7pm.
