Lions Remain Unbeaten in HCAC with 6th Straight Shutout

FRANKLIN, Ind. - On Friday, October 7th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Franklin College to take on the Grizzlies in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The Lions got ahead early and never looked back. McKenzie Schneeman scored her team-high 4th goal of the season in just the 7th minute to give the Lions the lead. One goal is all the Lions needed as The Mount's defense was spectacular allowing just 2 shots the entire game. After 90 minutes, the Lions took down the Grizzlies 1-0.

In the first half the Lions got off to a hot start. Just 7 minutes into the game, the Lions had their first opportunity. Sophomore Vivian Willis would begin the play with a clear from her defensive position. Off the clear Junior Poetrie Bedgood would tap a header pass forward to McKenzie Schneeman who would beat the defender to the ball. After taking a quick dribble, Schneeman would send a chip shot sailing over the goalkeeper's header and bouncing into net to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.

Following the goal, Schneeman would continue to flood the net with shots. But, the Lions were unable to mark the score sheet again in the first half holding a 1-0 advantage after 45 minutes.

In the second half it was more of the same for the Lions. Kerigan Pollard would get the half started with a pair of shots for The Mount but could not find the net. The Lions defense held strong again in the second half as Madison Hart was never called on to make a save. As the half came to a close, the Lions continued to control the pace but could not add to their lead. After 90 minutes the Lions remained unbeaten in HCAC play while extending their shutout streak to 6 games.
