MONTGOMERY, Ala. - On Sunday, February 27th your Mount St. Joseph University softball team stayed in Montgomery, Ala. at Huntingdon College to complete their two game series versus Millsaps College and Huntingdon College. The Lions were victorious in game one versus Millsaps shutting out the Majors 3-0. In game two the Lions would fall short against Huntingdon by a score of 8-0.
GAME ONE: MSJ - 3 MILLSAPS - 0
In the final game of this two-game series the Lions would rely on ace
Kamryn McCool to lead them to victory. McCool in the circle was dominant on Sunday dealing 7 shutout innings including a very impressive 15 strikeout game en route to a Lions victory. The Lions would get on the board first in the 3rd inning thanks to a
Kelsi Stevenson double giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Lions would attack again in the 6th adding a pair of runs off of a
Kaci Finchum double bring The Mount's lead to 3-0. After 7 innings of play the Lions completed the sweep of Millsaps. McCool was the headliner for the Lions facing 24 total batters, striking out 15 of them.
GAME TWO: MSJ - 0 HUNTINGDON - 8
In the Lions second game of the afternoon things did not go their way. The Lions struggled offensively and were unable to push any runs across. Huntingdon got ahead early by two runs in the first and did not look back. After 5 innings of play the Lions fell short by a score of 8-0.
