Lawson Records Two RBI Double as Lions Fall to Miami Hamilton

Hamilton, Ohio—The Mount St. Joseph University Baseball program took to the road for their final out of conference game of the season.  The Lions would travel north, to a familiar venue of Miami Hamilton.  While the Lions saw some great performances, they fell short by a final score of 10-4.

Miami Hamilton jumped ahead 8-0 early.  In the top of the seventh the Lions plated their first run of the game, when Tyrell Anderson came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a sacrifice fly into center field.  In the top of the eighth, Jake Lawson drove a sharp double into left field that scored two runs.  This brought Joshua Hagans to the plate, hitting a bloop single into shallow left field, scoring Lawson.  In the bottom half of the same inning, Miami Hamilton pushed another pair across to make the score 10-4.

On the game Jake Lawson collected three hits, two RBI and one run scored.  Zach McKenna finished with two hits over four at-bats and crossing the plate twice.  The pair of Hagans and Anderson each collected one hit and one RBI.

On the mound, the Lions saw strong performances from Brice McGee and Evan Webb.  McGee pitched one inning, allowing no runs and striking out two of the three batters faced.  Webb pitched one and one thirds, scoreless innings and striking out one batter.

Following this game, the Lions will play their final regular season double header, when they travel to Bluffton on Friday, May 6.  Game on is set to start at 1 PM.  For continued coverage of this upcoming game and all other MSJ Athletics, continue to follow msjlions.com
