#15 MSJ Moves to 17-1, With Pair of Wins at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The #15 ranked Mount St. Joseph women's volleyball team headed to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg and Carnegie Mellon. The Lions were challenged by Wittenberg, but in the end defeated the Tigers and Carnegie Mellon to move to 17-1 on the season. 

MATCH ONE | #15 MSJ 3 - Wittenberg 1 (25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 26-24)

The Lions won the first two sets of the match, before dropping the third. The match seemed destined for a fifth and decisive set late in the fourth set, as Wittenberg held a 21-16 lead. The Lions though were able to go on a late run securing the set 26-24 and the match 3-1. 

Emma Sicking led the Lions with a team-high 14 kills, Emily Pfeifer added 9 kills. 

Jasmine Butler dished out 43 assists, and had 11 digs. 

Libero Erin Androne had a team-high 20 digs, with Carly Caldwell (15), Hannah Graves (12), Grace Wilking (12) and Butler (11) all in double-figures. 

MATCH TWO | #15 MSJ 3 - Carnegie Mellon 0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-21)

After the close win in the first match of the night, the Lions were dominant in the match vs. Carnegie Mellon. As a team the Lions had 47 kills and hit .293 as a team, while Carnegie Mellon had only 36 kills and hit .172. 

Once again it was Sicking leading the way with 13 kills, joining her in double figures was Graves (11) and Pfeifer (10)

Androne was the lone player in double-figures with 14 digs. 

Butler dished out 33 assists.

UP NEXT: The Lions will get back to HCAC play on Wednesday night heading ot take on the Beavers of Bluffton University. Then on Saturday they will welcome Franklin College to the Harrington Center, that match will take place at 5:00 PM as a part of the MSJ Homecoming celebration.
