MADISON, Indiana- The #14 ranked MSJ women's volleyball team was on the road on Wednesday as they headed west to take on the Panthers of Hanover College. Hanover proved to be one of the Lions stiffer tests in the HCAC even taking a set off of the Lions, but eventually the Mount secured a 3-1 victory (25-20,25-20,14-25,25-15). The win moved the team to 20-1 on the season and 5-0 in the HCAC this season.
The Lions were led offensively by
Grace Young who had a match-high 12 kills, she led what was once again a balanced offensive attack. A trio of Lions had 8 kills in the match,
Emily Pfeifer,
McKenzee Wagener and
Hannah Graves.
Jasmine Butler had 39 assists, 3 kills and 8 digs.
Erin Androne (23) led a trio of Lions with double-digit digs that included
Grace Wilking (10) and Graves (13).
Hanover looked confident early in the match taking the early lead in both the first and second set, before the Lions secured each late. Hanover was able to take the third set by a wide margain at 25-14, but coach Spinney's team roared back to take the fourth set in dominant fashion, winning the match.Â
The #14 Lions will hit the road this weekend and head to take on the Spartans of Manchester. The match is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 PM in North Manchester, Indiana.Â
