CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Saturday, October 7
th, your Mount St. Joseph Lions took on the Earlham Quakers at home. The Lions stayed undefeated shutting out the Quakers with a 2-0 win. Goals were scored in the 1
st half by
Haley Trittschuh and in the 2
nd by
Mckenzie Schneeman with an assist from
Ella Pittman. The Lions will look to continue their streak Wednesday the 11
th against Transylvania University on Schueler Field.
In the first half of play, your Lions started off the offensive pressure early with
Sydney Bell finding the back of the net off a great slotted ball from Schneeman, but she was ultimately called offsides. Shortly after, in the 25
th minute of play,
Mary Anhofer received the ball on the right flank and played a ball over the Quaker's defense to
Haley Trittschuh arriving on a deep run from midfield. Trittschuh slotted the ball into the left corner of the net getting the Lions up 1-0. The Lion's defense held the Quakers for the rest of the half only allowing 1 shot which was not on frame and only one corner kick, as well.
Going into the second half, the Lions were looking to extend their lead getting 3 shots off within the first 5 minutes of play. The Lions did just that in the 20
th minute of the second half after the Quakers kicked the ball out of bounds.
Alexa Simpson took the throw in for the Lions, passing it to
Ella Pittman who slotted the ball back to
Mckenzie Schneeman at the front post who capitalized on the pass making the score 2-0. The Lion's defense held the Quakers at no goals for the remainder of the game only allowing one shot on goal.
UP NEXT: The Mount St. Joseph Lions will be back in action at Schueler Field Wednesday, October 11
th at 7 pm against Transylvania University. The Lions have beat the Pioneers 4 times in the past 2 years, and they are looking to continue this winning streak on Wednesday on their home turf.
