Lions Move to 4-0 in HCAC Play With 2-0 Win Over Quakers

CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Saturday, October 7th, your Mount St. Joseph Lions took on the Earlham Quakers at home. The Lions stayed undefeated shutting out the Quakers with a 2-0 win. Goals were scored in the 1st half by Haley Trittschuh and in the 2nd by Mckenzie Schneeman with an assist from Ella Pittman. The Lions will look to continue their streak Wednesday the 11th against Transylvania University on Schueler Field.

In the first half of play, your Lions started off the offensive pressure early with Sydney Bell finding the back of the net off a great slotted ball from Schneeman, but she was ultimately called offsides. Shortly after, in the 25th minute of play, Mary Anhofer received the ball on the right flank and played a ball over the Quaker's defense to Haley Trittschuh arriving on a deep run from midfield. Trittschuh slotted the ball into the left corner of the net getting the Lions up 1-0. The Lion's defense held the Quakers for the rest of the half only allowing 1 shot which was not on frame and only one corner kick, as well.

Going into the second half, the Lions were looking to extend their lead getting 3 shots off within the first 5 minutes of play. The Lions did just that in the 20th minute of the second half after the Quakers kicked the ball out of bounds. Alexa Simpson took the throw in for the Lions, passing it to Ella Pittman who slotted the ball back to Mckenzie Schneeman at the front post who capitalized on the pass making the score 2-0. The Lion's defense held the Quakers at no goals for the remainder of the game only allowing one shot on goal.

UP NEXT: The Mount St. Joseph Lions will be back in action at Schueler Field Wednesday, October 11th at 7 pm against Transylvania University. The Lions have beat the Pioneers 4 times in the past 2 years, and they are looking to continue this winning streak on Wednesday on their home turf. Please continue to tune in to msjlions.com for coverage of your MSJ Women's Soccer team and all other MSJ Athletics teams, as well.
