CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Thursday, November 9
th, your Mount St. Joseph University Women's basketball team welcomed the Wilmington College Quakers to the Harrington Center to kick off the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic. The Lions defeated the Quakers in their first match of the weekend with a final score of 88-77. 
 
The Lions led throughout the 1
st quarter of play, out-scoring Wilmington 27-18. 
Morgan Jenkins led the charge for the Lions scoring 11 points. The Lions also showed their offensive pressure by racking up 6 fast break points compared to the Quaker's 2 throughout the quarter. 
 
In quarter number two, Wilmington cut into the Lion's lead, out-scoring us 25 to 13. Wilmington also got their biggest lead, 3 points, in the second quarter shooting 60% from the field and 100%, 2 for 2, from the three-point line. The Lions gained the majority of their points from the free throw line during this period shooting 75% or 3 for 4. The Lions did end up falling behind by a small 3-point margin at the end of the half with a 40-43 score. 
 
Going into the 3
rd quarter, the Lions came out looking to regain their lead, outscoring the Quakers 24 to 11 and shooting 100%, 5 for 5, from the free throw line. Freshmen 
Whitney Warfel also put on a show for the lions gaining 12 total points and an assist helping the Lions regain their lead. 
 
Finishing out the game, the Lions held their lead with a great run from 
Anyiah Murphy. Murphy led the way for the Lions scoring 5 two-pointers, a three-pointer, and 7 free throws amounting to 18 points on the night. Along with this, 
Morgan Jenkins put up the game high for assists on the day with 7 assists throughout the game along with her 17 points.
