Lions Goalie Laura Schmidl Breaks MSJ Record in Matchup verses Bethany College

BETHANY, W. Va. – On Saturday March 18th, the Lions women's lacrosse team traveled on the road to take on Bethany College. Although the Lions would fall short on the scoreboard, Lions goaltender Laura Schmidl was able to break an MSJ school record with the most saves in a match with 27 saves! The previous record was held by Sydney Vinel who's held the record since the 2019 season.

In the game, the Lions would fall behind early in the first half but would fight back into the matchup with a pair of goals from Sarah Murray which were followed by goals from Cecilia Horn, Chirly Gillman and Emily Etris.

Offensively the Lions were led by Senior Sarah Murray with 2 goals and 7 ground balls. Chirly Gillman also played a key role for the Mount in the matchup scoring a goal and playing havoc on the defensive end causing 2 turnovers.

The Lions look to get back on track as their next matchup will come against Thomas More University on March 22nd at 7 PM
