#22 Women's Volleyball Moves to 9-0 After Another Weekend Sweep

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The newly minted #22 ranked MSJ women's volleyball team continued their torrid start to the season, moving to 9-0 after weekend sweep at Muskingum Invitational. They did so by taking down Baldwin Wallace and Muskingum on Friday and then Marietta on Saturday, all in straight sets. 

MATCH ONE | MSJ 3 - Baldwin Wallace 0 

The Mount was dominant in the weekend opening match against the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace. They took the match 25-17, 25-23, 25-20. 

Middle hitter Grace Young led the way with a match-high 10 kills, hitting a blistering .692 in the match. The Lions other middle McKenzee Wagener was also solid with 7 kills and a .385 hitting percentage. 

As a team they delivered 35 kills and a .154 hitting percentage as compared to just 27 kills and a .067 hitting percentage for BW. 

MATCH TWO | MSJ 3 - Muskingum 0

During the team's second match of the weekend they took on the host of the tournament the Muskingum Muskies. Once again the Mount was outstanding winning 25-20, 25-14, 25-18.

This was also another fantastic offensive output for the Mount, delivering 44 kills and hitting .226 as a team. 

Young once again led the team this time with a match-high 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. Emma Sicking joined her with double-digit kills in the match with 11 and a .207 percentage. 

Senior libero Erin Androne led the defense that had a trio of players with double-digit digs. Androne led the way with 21, with Grace Wilking and Jasmine Butler each adding 10. 

MATCH THREE | MSJ 3 - Marietta 0

In their final match of the weekend the Mount once again bested their competition taking down Marietta 25-22, 25-20, 25-18.

In this one it was the freshman Sicking leading the way on the offensive side with 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Joining here in double-digits was Hannah Graves with 10 kills and a .308 hitting percentage.

The Lions setter Jasmine Butler delivered 35 assists, nearly 10.2 per set in the three set affair. 

Carly Caldwell and Androne each were able to register 14 digs in the match.

UP NEXT: Your #22 ranked Lions (9-0, 0-0 HCAC) will finally play their home opener, welcoming the Wilmington College (6-5, 0-0 OAC) Quakers into the Harrington Center. The match is scheduled for Wednesday night and will get underway at 7:00 PM.
