CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Wednesday, September 27
th, your Mount St. Joseph Lions welcomed Rose-Hulman to Schueler Field for their first conference game of the season. Your Lions started off the game with immediate offensive pressure on the Engineers.
Kerigan Pollard found the back of the net to get a 1-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of play off of a beautiful ball into the 18 from
Molly Sheridan. The Engineers found an equalizing breakaway in the beginning of the second half, but the Lions responded within 5 minutes. Defender,
Molly Sheridan smashed a deflected ball off of a corner kick from
Abby Cole into the back of the net to secure the 2-1 win over the Engineers.
In the first half of the match, your MSJ Lions dominated the game with 6 shots on goal compared to the Engineers one shot. Two of these shots were within just the first 3 minutes of play for the Lions from
Haley Trittschuh and
Paige Adams. Only a few minutes later, the Lions found the back of the net to get a lead going.
Paige Adams received the ball on the left side of the field and passed it to
Anna Best at about the 50-yard line who then swung it to the far side of the field to
Molly Sheridan. Sheridan took a touch and sent a perfect ball into the 18 for
Kerigan Pollard who took a touch around the keeper and slotted the ball right into the net to get a 1-0 lead.
Within the first 15 minutes of the second half, the Engineers were able to secure an equalizing goal, but the Lions were quick to reciprocate and get back in front. The Engineers deflected a ball out of bounds only 5 minutes after their goal, providing a corner kick opportunity for the Lions.
Abby Cole sent a well-placed ball into the 18 where
Haley Trittschuh took a shot that deflected off of a defender leading to
Molly Sheridan hammering the deflection into the back of the net with her shoulder securing the Lion's first HCAC win of the season.

th at 6:00 pm at home taking on Franklin College. The Lions have beat Franklin the past two years of conference play, and they are looking to extend that streak again this weekend on Schueler Field.
