CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran and Trine for their home opening tri-match on Saturday. The Lions quickly dispatched of Wisconsin Lutheran in the opening match of the day, then dropped their match with Trine in straight sets to close the day.
MATCH ONE | MSJ 3 - Wisconsin Lutheran 0
The tri-match got underway with the Lions playing the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran. The Lions went on to win the match 25-16, 25-17, 25-19.
As a team the Lions hit .187 in the match, led by
Ryan Bollhauer who had nine kills on 11 attempts hitting .818 in the match. Bollhauer and
Logan Essen each had four service aces.
Nicholas Shellman playing his first match as the Lions libero led the way with 13 digs. Setter
Ben Carmosino had 27 assists to go along with 4 digs and 3 kills.
MATCH TWO | MSJ 0 - Trine 3
In match two Trine took the match in straight sets, although the sets were close the whole way. They would take the match 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 to down the Lions.
Luke Dwire led the way for the Lions with 10 kills and 11.5 total points. Carmosino dished out 19 assists to go along with his 3 kills and a team-high 14 digs.
Jude Lewis pitched in 5 kills, Bollhauer 4 and
Roger Wilcox 3.

The Lions will head across the Ohio River to take on the Saints of Thomas More University on Tuesday night. The will then play host to Wittenberg University on Thursday night at 7 PM in the Harrington Center.
