Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Another Double-Double for Drummonds Leads to Another Lions Win

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team welcomed the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers into the Harrington Center on Saturday for an HCAC matchup. The Mount would trail at halftime, but would outscore Rose 19-9 in the third quarter to secure the 62-55 win.

Once again it was Madison Drummonds leading the way for the Mount, the junior center recorded her fourth consecutive double-double. She was absolutely dominant on the glass, recording 12-rebounds including a career-high 12 on the offensive end, to go along with 13-points.

The Mount struggled shooting the ball in the first half of action, going just 9-of-35 from the field and 1-of-9 from three-point range. Trailing 29-26 coming out of the halftime break, they would have a much better third quarter. After making just nine shots in the first half they hit eight in the third, including three from deep. Morgan Jenkins, Chloe Jansen and Amanda Lovejoy all hit three-pointers in the quarter.

They entered the fourth with a seven point advantage, but Rose would fight back and eventually tie the game at 55 with :48 to play in the game. On the Mount's next possesion Jansen missed a layup but Whitney Warfel was there to get the rebound and lay it back in to take the lead. They would go on to score the final seven points of the game as Jansen went 3-for-4 from the free throw line and Karlee Mills buried a pair to put the game in ice.

Jenkins and Mills joined Drummonds in double-figures each scoring 14-points. Hailey Guingrich scored six points and pulled down six rebounds, while Warfel had seven board and 4 points.
