Cincinnati, Ohio – On Tuesday March 26
th, the Mount St. Joseph Women's Lacrosse program played host to the Ursuline Arrows. The Mount would jump out on the scoreboard early in the contest and never look back. After a two-goal lead in the first, the Lions defense dominated the Arrows in the second period to break the game open. As the clock hit zeros in the final period the Lions would earn a 18-10 victory.
Early in the first period,
Abby Cole would make an impact right away. After forcing a turnover, the Lions would clear the ball down the field to Cole as she would find the back of the net to take an early lead. With the Arrows looking to bring the game back to even with a free position shot, the Lions would poke the ball loose and cause a turnover.
Hailey Guingrich would earn a free position shot herself and score on the attempt for her first goal of her Mount St. Joseph career. With time slowly running out in the period the Arrows would cut the lead to tie the game at two goals each. A tri of different Lions broke the game open to give the Mount a 3 goal advantage as they took a 5-3 lead into the second period.
In the second,
Abby Cole and
Erika Borges propelled the Lions offensively. Cole would earn her first half hat-trick early on by taking advantage of a free position shot. Borges then sliced the Arrows defense by scoring back-to-back goals. After extending the lead to 9-4 with an

th goal in the first half,
Kat Gillman joined the party offensively scoring her second goal of the night with less than a minute on the clock before the half.
With the Lions leading 10-4 entering period number three, the duo of Cole and Gillman continued to shine. With the six goals scored in the third, two would come from Cole while the final 3 coming from Gillman. The Lions would then hold off the Arrows in the final period by the score of 18-10 and earning their first victory on the season!
Abby Cole had an all-around stellar game scoring 6 goals, scooping up 5 ground balls, and causing 4 turnovers defensively.
Kat Gillman also was very productive for the Lions scoring 5 goals, 7 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers.
Rachel Winkler would also have a respectable 3 goals on the night. In the goal for the Mount,
Alissa Carlson would earn her first victory by saving 10 shots.

th as they travel on the road to take on Albion College. The matchup is set to begin at 4:00pm.
