Lexington, Kentucky – The Mount St. Joseph University Softball team took on the #2 seed Franklin Grizzles in the winner's bracket semi-final of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The game would be an all-around pitcher dual as Franklin would take an early 2-0 lead and the Lions would be unable to push across more than a run, falling to the Grizzles 2-1.
The Lions senior pitcher
Casey Kemp would battle the entire afternoon pitching all 6 innings, allowing only two runs as the right-hander struck out a pair. The Lions were mostly quiet on the offensive side as the only run they were able to push across would come in the top of the 6
th when
Lauryn Miller sent a homerun over the right center wall.
Sydney Hughbanks would be productive for the Lions in the three-spot going a team high 2 for 3.
Up next for the Lions will be a contest with the Manchester Spartans as they look to run the table and keep their season alive. First pitch is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30 PM at Transylvania University.
