Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Defeats Midway 3-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball team got their first home win of the season on Thursday. The Lions defeated Midway 3-1 in the first ever meeting between the two programs!

The Eagles took advantage of the Mount's first set serving struggles to win set one 25-22 to take the early advantage. That first set was back and forth with neither team winning more than three consecutive points.

The Mount bounced back to comfortably take the second and third sets (25-13, 25-18). In the second set they took the early advantage on the strength of a seven point serving run by JJ Rennekamp. The early parts of the third set were once again tight, and Midway even held a lead at 10-9. From that point the Mount went on a 6-0 that was led by Ryan Bollhauer, who had a kill and three services aces in the run.

The fourth and decisive set was once again a tight one, the Lions maintained an early lead but were unable to distance themselves from the Eagles. They would have a pair of match points, Midway though came back. The Eagles would eventually have a pair of match points of their own at 26-25 and 27-26. The Lions senior leaders would finally put the game away as a dump kill by Ben Carmosino gave the Lions another shot at match point and a kill from Bollhauer ended the match!

Carson Reed led the way with a monster night registering 22 kills, and a .240 hitting percentage. Bollhauer was the lone other Lion in double figures with 12 to go along with a .455 hitting percentage. Libero Sean Murray led the way with 15 digs, Carmosino added 12 go along with his 45 assists.
