Box Score BEREA, KENTUCKY — The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team defeated Berea College 1-0 on the road Wednesday evening.
The first half was a back-and-forth contest, with the Lions generating multiple opportunities to break the tie. The Mount offense took 14 shots, while the defense held Berea to just nine. Despite constant pressure on the Mountaineers' defense, the Lions went into halftime tied 0-0.
In the second half, the opportunities continued for the Mount. With less than 15 minutes to play,
Brady Diedenhofer found the back of the net on a header from a free kick delivered by
Nathaniel Knuth. The Lions took a 1-0 lead, and with the Mount's defense playing outstandingly — allowing only seven shots on goal — they held on for the win. Lions goalkeeper
Carson Sabers was excellent, making seven saves to secure the shutout victory.
UP NEXT: The Lions will travel to North Manchester, Indiana, on Saturday, Oct. 25, to continue HCAC play against Manchester University. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
