Box Score BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team fell 2–0 to Bluffton University in the HCAC quarterfinals on Saturday evening.
In the first half, Bluffton struck first, scoring in the 18th minute of the contest to give the Beavers a 1–0 lead. The Mount had multiple opportunities to score but could not convert. Shots on goal were nearly even, with the Beavers recording eight and the Lions seven. The Mount went into halftime trailing 1–0.
The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams creating opportunities to score. The Lions' offense earned multiple corner kicks and took several shots on goal early but couldn't convert. Bluffton's goalkeeper made two outstanding saves in the 79th and 80th minutes on attempts from Presley Boyle that nearly tied the match. Bluffton added an insurance goal in the 89th minute to secure the 2–0 victory.
The Lions' season came to an end in the HCAC quarterfinals. The Mount finished the year with a 6–10–3 record. Brennan Lewis led the team offensively with nine goals and one assist, while Brady Diedenhofer followed closely with eight goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Carson Sabers anchored the defense, finishing the season with 86 saves.
