CINCINNATI, OHIO — The Mount St. Joseph University men's basketball team was defeated by Otterbein University on Thursday night, 78–52.
The first half was a tight, back-and-forth affair with several lead changes. The Lions led 15–10 ten minutes into the game, with Matthew Menninger scoring six of the first fifteen points. The Cardinals responded with a 15–6 run, taking their largest lead of the half at four. Collin Buck scored as the buzzer sounded, and the Mount went into halftime trailing 27–25.
In the second half, Otterbein came out strong, stretching its lead to 14 points in the first eight minutes. Joe Brand and Braden Miller hit back-to-back threes to cut the Cardinals' lead to eight, but Otterbein closed the game on a 30–12 run to secure a 78–52 victory.
The Lions were led by Collin Buck and Joe Brand, who each scored 13 points. Matthew Menninger added 10 points, while Jay Bilton contributed four assists.
