RICHMOND, Ind. – The Mount St. Joseph University women's volleyball team's postseason run came to an end on Saturday night as they were defeated by Transylvania University in the semifinals of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament. The Lions battled hard but ultimately lost in straight sets, 0–3, ending their season with a 12-14 overall record.
The Lions gave a strong effort in the opening set, battling back-and-forth with Transylvania, but ultimately fell just short, 26-28. In the second and third sets, the Pioneers gained momentum, and despite the Lions' resilience, the match ended with Transylvania securing the sweep.
Senior Hannah Graves led the offense with 10 kills and five digs on 25 total attempts, while junior Emma Sicking reached a career milestone, earning her 1,000th career kill at the Mount. Sicking finished with seven kills and six digs. Libero Lyndsey Stephenson anchored the defense with a team-high 13 digs, while sophomore Ginger Johnson contributed 18 assists and 11 digs, playing a key role in the Lions' offensive flow.
While the loss marked the end of the season, it highlighted a year of growth and development for the young Lions team, which has built a strong foundation for the future.
Offensively, Emma Sicking led the Lions throughout the season with 317 kills, followed by Hannah Graves (301), sophomore Aubrey Miranda (216), and sophomore Sydney Doty (213). Freshman Ava Moore finished the season with 502 assists, while Ginger Johnson recorded 456 assists. Defensively, Lyndsey Stephenson led the team with 481 digs, followed by Graves with 323 digs and Sicking with 226.
With a strong group of returning players and a solid foundation of talented underclassmen, the Lions are poised for continued success in future seasons.
