Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lions Fall at Franklin

FRANKLIN, INDIANA — The Mount St. Joseph University men's basketball team was defeated by Franklin College, 73–57, Wednesday night on the road.

Franklin controlled the tempo early and took a quick 11–0 lead five minutes into the game. Griffen Derry hit three three-pointers in the first half, extending his streak to eight consecutive made threes, dating back to his 5-for-5 performance against Earlham. Derry's third three of the half cut the Grizzlies' lead to two, making the score 18–16 Franklin with less than seven minutes remaining in the half. The Grizzlies closed the half on a 19–9 run to take a 37–25 lead into halftime.

Franklin came out strong to start the second half, extending its lead early. At the 14:00 mark, Matthew Menninger hit a layup in the paint to cut the Grizzlies' lead to nine. That would be the closest Mount St. Joseph would get the rest of the way, as the Lions fell 73–57.

The Lions were led by Joe Brand, who finished with 17 points. Landon Kidwell added 10 points and five rebounds, while Cam Craig and Griffen Derry chipped in nine points apiece.

UP NEXT: The Lions will travel to Wittenberg University on Saturday, December 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
