LEXINGTON, Kentucky – December 6, 2025 – The Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team turned in a strong overall effort Tuesday night but came up just short in a 60–54 setback to Transylvania in a tightly contested Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
The Lions held a 28–25 advantage at the halftime break, with Transy drilling a jumper at the horn to end the half on a high-note. MSJ continued to fight throughout the second half, matching Transylvania's physical play and executing efficiently on the offensive end. The Lions finished the game shooting 23-of-48 from the field (47.9 percent) and an impressive 4-of-7 from three-point range (57.1 percent), while also scoring 24 points in the paint.
Transylvania outscored the Lions 16-12 in the third to take a one point lead into the final period. In the final period the early going was back and forth, a Morgan Jenkins three pointer with 5:27 to play gave the Lions a two-point lead. From that point the Pioneers outscored the Mount 13-5 to take secure the narrow victory.
Individually, Jenkins led the Lions with 16 points and seven rebounds while shooting 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Hailey Guingrich followed with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks in an all-around performance. Ella Stivers added 14 points and seven rebounds, going 7-of-11 from the floor.
The Lions will look to build on their strong shooting performance and balanced scoring as they continue through the early portion of their season. They will have a week off before welcoming Earlham in to the Harrington Center next Saturday, with tip-off schedueld at 1:00 PM.
