CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team took down Earlham 68-63 on Senior Day. In a pregame ceremony the Mount honored
Josh Batte,
Dale Bush,
Luke Collinsworth and
Alex Willett who are all wrapping up their career in the blue and gold over the next few weeks.
The Lions got off to a quick start in the game, opening on a 14-3 run to put Earlham behind quickly. The Quakers quickly cut their deficit down to just five, but the Lions exploded pushing their lead out to a game-high 17 with 5:10 to go in the half. Earlham closed the half on a mini run, and the Mount would lead 33-26 at the break.
The Lions never trailed in this one and midway through the second half they led by 15. The Lions offense cooled off and Earlham was able to cut into the lead, pulling within three with 3:02 to play. A layup by
Matthew Menninger pushed it right back to a five point lead. A pair of Earlham free throws on the next possession cut it right back to three, but the Lions answered again with a layup from Collinsworth. The Lions would go 4-for-4 from the free throw line over the final minutes to secure the win.
Collinsworth scored a team-high 19 points in the game and pulled in a team-high 8 boards. Menninger was the only other Lion in double-figures with 16.
