Men's Volleyball Sweeps Olivet for MCVL Win

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball team got another straight sets win on Saturday, defeating Olivet to earn their second MCVL win in a row.

In the first set they pushed their lead out to as many as five points at 11-6, thanks in large part to a four point service run by Roger WIlcox. The Lions led 19-14 at one point but Olivet went on a run of their own to tie the set at 20. From that point the Mount outscored the Comets 5-2 with the final point coming on a monster kill from Carson Reed.

In the second set Olivet led the action through the middle portions of the set, leading 16-13 at one point. The Mount answered with a 7-1 run behind the service of Reed and Wilcox to take control of the set. The final point of set two came via a block by Reed and Ryan Bollhauer.

The Mount controlled the third set from the beginning, racing out to a 9-3 lead. Olivet was unable to get the deficit under four for the rest of the set as the Mount cruised to a 25-16 third set victory.

The Lions were led by Bollhauer who had a team-high 11 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. The senior middle also continued his outstanding run of defensive play at the net with 6 solo blocks and a block assist. Reed added 9 kills (.389 hitting percentage) and Lewis and Wilcox each had 5.
