CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Tuesday, September 9, the Mount St. Joseph Lions returned to action at home, hosting a competitive Wittenberg Tigers team and showing strong moments of play despite falling in four sets.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 1 – Wittenberg 3 (26-24, 14-25, 17-25, 20-25)
The Lions put together a hard-fought effort throughout the match, demonstrating resilience and teamwork against a tough opponent. Junior Emma Sicking paced the offense with an impressive 13 kills on 56 total attempts, consistently challenging the Tigers' defense. Sophomore Ginger Johnson led the team with 17 assists, orchestrating the Lions' offense with precision, while freshman Ava Moore added 10 assists, helping to maintain a balanced and dynamic attack.
On the defensive end, sophomore libero Lyndsey Stephenson contributed 17 digs, showing quick reflexes and excellent court coverage. Senior Hannah Graves added 15 digs, playing a crucial role in sustaining key rallies and pushing back against Wittenberg's offensive pressure.Though the final result didn't swing in MSJ's favor, the Lions showcased notable growth, energy, and determination throughout the contest.
