CINCINNATI, Ohio — September 25, 2025 — The Mount St. Joseph University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is proud to announce the launch of the Mount Cup, a brand-new, year-long competition designed to unite all Lion athletic programs.
The 2025–26 Mount Cup marks the inaugural season of this interdepartmental competition, where every MSJ team will go head-to-head in a points race across three key areas: academics, attendance, and halftime challenges.
- Academics: Team GPAs will be scored twice (Fall & Spring) on a scale, with top-performing programs earning up to 10 points.
- Attendance: Teams will earn points for supporting fellow Lions, with attendance tracked by percentage of team members at select games.
- Challenge Events: Special contests held during home events will give teams the chance to score bonus points and showcase school spirit.
Important games and dates of the Mount Cup Challenge are scheduled for the Fall as follows:
- Sept. 27 – Men's Soccer vs. Anderson (Event at Halftime)
- Oct. 11 – Football vs. Hanover (Event at Halftime)
- Oct. 18 – Women's Soccer vs. Earlham (Event at Halftime)
- Nov. 5 – Women's Volleyball vs. Transylvania (Events during Set Breaks after the 1st and 2nd sets)
At the end of the competition, the winning team will raise the Mount Cup trophy, cementing their place in MSJ history, and will also enjoy a celebratory pizza party and — of course — bragging rights as the most spirited and well-rounded program on campus.
"The Mount Cup is more than a competition, it's about building a culture of support that extends across every sport," said Brooke Shelton, SAAC President and women's volleyball student-athlete. "It's a chance for all of us to celebrate each other's success, push ourselves in the classroom and strengthen the traditions that make being a Mount student-athlete so special."
The 2025–26 SAAC Executive Board leading the charge includes:
- Brooke Shelton, President – Women's Volleyball
