Lions Fall 3-0 at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Heidelberg University on Sunday afternoon.

The Mount struggled to generate much offense in the first half. In the 21st minute, Heidelberg capitalized on a scoring opportunity to break the deadlock and take a 1-0 lead. Despite efforts to respond, the Lions were unable to find the equalizer before the break and went into halftime trailing by a goal.

The Lions showed more offensive urgency in the second half, recording 11 shots as they pushed for an equalizer. Kaitlyn Lampe led the attack with three shots, two of which were on target, testing the Heidelberg goalkeeper. However, despite the increased pressure, the Lions were unable to break through. Heidelberg capitalized on two quick scoring opportunities in the 77th and 79th minutes, extending their lead and ultimately securing a 3-0 victory.

Up Next: The Lions will hit the road again on Saturday, October 4th, as they travel to Franklin, Ohio, to continue HCAC play against the Franklin Grizzlies. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
