VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday evening at Foster Field.
Virginia Wesleyan controlled much of the play from the start, recording five shots in the first half and breaking through in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Marlins continued to press in the second half, adding nine more shots and doubling their lead early in the half to make it 2-0.
The Lions' lone shot came in the second half, but they were unable to convert. Despite the heavy offensive pressure from the Marlins, MSJ goalkeeper Megan Kallmeyer made three saves, helping to keep the Lions within striking distance throughout the match.
Up Next: Mount St. Joseph falls to 1-1 on the season and will continue the road trip with a matchup against Christopher Newport University on September 7 in Newport News, Va.
