CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University men's basketball team defeated Hanover College on the road Wednesday evening, 75–65, sweeping the season series.
Hanover jumped out to an early lead in the first four minutes, going up by as many as six. At the 14:27 mark, Joe Brand hit a three-pointer to give the Lions a two-point lead. Once the Mount took the lead, it grew to as many as seven, with Brand scoring 8 points and Matthew Menninger adding 7. The Panthers closed the half on a 10–2 run and went into halftime leading 39–33.
The Lions opened the second half on a 7–2 run, tying the game at 40 apiece on a layup by Matthew Menninger two-and-a-half minutes into the half. At the 12:08 mark, Jay Bilton scored a layup to give the Mount a lead it would not surrender. Over the final seven minutes, the Lions pulled away as Menninger scored 7 points, Michael Loftis added 5, and Cooper Ollis contributed a three-pointer.
The Mount was led by Matthew Menninger, who scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Michael Loftis finished with 12 points, while Cooper Ollis added 11. Joe Brand, Jay Bilton, and Landon Kidwell each contributed 8 points.
