Men’s Volleyball Sweeps The College at Old Westbury in Straight Sets

OLD WESTBURY, New York — The Mount St. Joseph University men's volleyball team delivered a strong all-around performance on the road Tuesday evening, defeating The College at Old Westbury in straight sets.

MATCH ONE: MSJ 3 – OLD WESTBURY 0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-15)
The Lions controlled the match from the opening serve, using an efficient offensive attack and disciplined defense to secure the three-set sweep.

Mount St. Joseph came out with energy in the first set, establishing momentum early with strong serving and consistent offensive production. The Lions created separation midway through the set and never looked back, closing the frame with a 25-14 victory to take the early lead in the match.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with MSJ continuing to apply pressure from the service line while maintaining an efficient offensive rhythm. Sophomore Carson Reed played a major role in the attack, finishing the match with 11 kills on just 15 total attempts while also contributing three service aces. The Lions built another comfortable advantage during the middle portion of the set and secured a 25-16 win to move within one set of the sweep.

In the third set, Mount St. Joseph maintained its composure and balanced offensive approach. Sophomore Brayden Bass helped guide the offense with 19 assists, distributing the ball effectively and keeping multiple attackers involved throughout the match. Freshman Will Croft also played a key role in the offense, adding 13 assists as the Lions continued to move the ball efficiently across the court.

MSJ closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set, completing the straight-set sweep and showcasing a strong performance on both sides of the ball. The Lions' consistent serving, efficient attacking, and steady play making allowed them to control the pace throughout the contest.

UP NEXT: The Lions return to action Thursday, March 12, when they face John Jay College in New York. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as Mount St. Joseph looks to continue its strong play on the road.
