WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph track and field teams competed at the JennaStrong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College over the weekend. On the women's side the Lions finished sixth as a team, while the men finished in third place.
On the women's side
Sydney Williams earned eight team points in the 100m dash, running a time of 13.12. She was the winner of the 200m race, with a time of 27.38 earning 10 points.
Emerson Pinger and
Ariel Riddle both earned points in the 200m as well with a fifth and sixth place finish respectivley.
Aunaleisa Newhart earned six points toward the team score with a third place finish in the high jump event, clearning 1.42m.
Josie Rigdon was the winner of the pole vault event, earning 10 points, while
Londyn Frazier added two points in the triple jump finishing in fifth place.
The Lions dominated in the throwing events, as freshman
Sophie Rawlings outpaced the competition in the shot put by nearly a full meter, earning 10 points. Senior
Sienna Slaughter won the hammer throw with a mark of 47.78m.
In the men's events
Diego Yun continuted his outstanding run of form, finishing second in the 100m, and first in the 400m hurdles earning 18 points toward the teams score. The Lions earned 12 points in the 200m with
Ezekiel Thomas finishing second and
Kyle Evers Smith finishing fifth.
Dylan Hammons finished sixth in the 400m run earning the team two points.
Christian Sumner finished third in the 110m hurdles, earning his team six points. While the 4x100m relay team of
Ezekiel Thomas,
Kyle Evers Smith,
Chris Barrow and
Diego Yun finished third earning six points.
Chris Barrow was the winner of the high jump, earning 10 points.
D'san Ritchie was the winner of the triple jump earning 10 points.
Bryan McCutcheon won the shot put and
Clayton Bennet finished seventh to earn 11 total points. McCutcheon also finished sixth in the discus, while Skylar Hughes finished second.
Kaleb Fitzgerald rounded out the scoring with a fifth place finish and two points in the hammer throw.
