CINCINNATI, OHIO — The Mount St. Joseph University women's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak as the Lions defeated Wilmington College, 1-0, at Schueler Field Wednesday night, improving their record to 3-0-1.

The Mount controlled much of the first half, taking nine shots and recording four corner kicks. Makayla Raynor and Rikkie Chase both had shots hit the crossbar, narrowly missing opportunities to break the 0-0 tie. The Lions' defense was strong, allowing Wilmington just four shots, with only one on goal. Despite constant pressure and several near-goal opportunities, the Mount went into halftime tied 0-0.

In the second half, the Lions carried the momentum they built in the first half. In the 50th minute, Mary Anhofer centered a pass that Preslee Rugg headed into the back of the net, giving the Mount a 1-0 lead. The Lions continued to put pressure on the Quakers, recording seven additional shots throughout the half. The defense limited Wilmington's opportunities to tie the match, while goalkeeper Megan Kallmeyer made two saves to help preserve the shutout as the Mount held on for the 1-0 victory.

UP NEXT: The Mount will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, where they will take on Wisconsin-La Crosse at Lynn Family Stadium on Friday, September 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
