ANDERSON, INDIANA — The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Anderson University in its first HCAC match of the season Saturday night at Fridley Field, moving its record to 3-3-2 and 0-1 in HCAC play.

The Lions and Ravens went into halftime scoreless at 0-0. Mount goalkeeper Carson Sabers made two saves within the first 20 minutes of the match, helping keep Anderson off the scoreboard. Lions Presley Boyle, Evan Esterkamp and Aidan Sweeney all recorded shots in the first half, but none found the back of the net.

The Ravens opened the second half with goals in the 54th and 63rd minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Throughout the half, the Mount had several chances to cut into the Anderson lead. Aidan Sweeney and Brennan Lewis recorded attempts, with Lewis coming inches away from a goal when his shot hit the crossbar. Ian Simpson and Presley Boyle also added second-half shots, but the Lions fell 2-0.

UP NEXT: The Mount will finish nonconference play when they host Heidelberg University on Wednesday, September 30, at Schueler Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
