Jeff Newman returns for the 2024 season for his 11th season as the head coach of the Lions’ baseball team. He was the team’s associate head coach for five seasons before taking over as head coach for the 2014 season, and assistant baseball coach since 2002. .

Coach Newman coached the Mount’s women’s golf team for eight seasons, ending in the spring of 2013. Coach Newman was hired in July 2005 by the Mount as a full-time coach with the duties of head women’s golf coach and assistant baseball coach.

Newman has also been an assistant baseball coach at the University of Cincinnati where he was in charge of outfielders and coaching first base.

After graduating from Loveland High School, Newman accepted a baseball scholarship to Kentucky Wesleyan College where he played for two years before transferring to Barton College in North Carolina where he played his final two years, and was an All-Conference selection.

Newman, who graduated in 1998 from Barton College (Wilson, N.C.) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration, became the athletic director and varsity baseball coach at Clermont Northeastern High School after college. While at CNE, Newman guided the baseball team to a two-year record of 36-18 as well as a league championship in 2000, and he received league Coach of the Year honors.

In addition to his years on the collegiate level, Newman spent six summers as a head coach in the nationally recognized Midland summer baseball organization. Coach Newman helped guide his teams to success on the national level, as evidenced by winning the National Championship in 2006 and two CABA Wood Bat World Series second-place finishes in 2003 and 2005. During his six years as head coach of the Midland Indians, Newman has coached eight players that have gone on to play professional baseball.

In the summer of 2009 Newman coached third base for the Cincinnati Steam in the Collegiate Great Lakes League, in which they won the championship that season.

Coach Newman has also been a member of the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) for over five years. He is also on the CRAA (Coordinating Representatives of Administrative Assembly) and the Mount Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Newman and his wife, Michelle, two daughters, Bree and Corrine, and son Casey reside in Cincinnati, Ohio.
