Lane Little

Lane Little enters his eighth season at The Mount and his first as the program's primary play-caller. He will also serve as Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. Over the past seven seasons, Little has coached tight ends (2020-21), running backs (2022-23), and wide receivers while serving as Recruiting Coordinator (2024-25), playing an integral role in the development and success of the Mount's offense.

During his tenure, Little has played a key role in the development of several standout student-athletes, including HCAC Athlete of the Year Cornell Beachem Jr. and HCAC Offensive Player of the Year Eli Aston. His position groups have earned two First Team All-America honors, three All-Region selections, seven First Team All-HCAC honors, five Second Team All-HCAC honors, and one Honorable Mention All-HCAC recognition.

In 2025, with Little sharing play-calling responsibilities, the Lions' passing attack continued its dominant production. The offense led the nation with 48 passing touchdowns and once again paced the HCAC in passing offense at 337.9 yards per game, finishing the season ranked seventh nationally in passing offense. Little helped develop the first pair of 1,000-yard receivers in program history, with Eli Aston (1,309) and Michael Hunkus (1,047). Aston earned First Team/Second Team All-America honors from both the AFCA and AP while setting a school record with 21 receiving touchdowns. He also finished the season ranked second nationally in receiving touchdowns and third in receiving yards.

In his first season leading the wide receivers, Little guided The Mount to the top passing offense in the HCAC, averaging 310.6 yards per game. The offense also earned national rankings, finishing 10th in passing offense and 11th in total offense. Under his direction, wide receiver Eli Aston was named HCAC Offensive Player of the Year, earned Second Team All-Region honors, and First Team All-HCAC recognition. Aston finished fifth nationally in receiving yards and set a Mount St. Joseph single-season record with 1,358 yards. Two additional receivers earned First Team All-HCAC honors.

As Running Backs Coach, Little directed one of the most productive rushing attacks in the conference. In 2023, the Lions rushed for 2,018 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 227.5 yards per game to lead the HCAC for the second consecutive season. The ground game played a key role in helping the Lions capture another HCAC championship and earn a return trip to the NCAA Playoffs. That year, the offense ranked third nationally in both scoring (55.4 points per game) and total offense (552.5 yards per game). Three running backs ranked among the top three in the conference in yards per carry, including senior Mariano McKenzie, who averaged 7.1 yards per carry and ranked in the top 10 nationally.

In 2022, Little's running back unit rushed for more than 1,900 yards and 15 touchdowns, leading the HCAC in rushing offense and finishing 15th nationally in rushing yards per game (229.7). The backfield was led by Cornell Beachem Jr., a First Team All-American who led the nation in all-purpose yards. Little's running backs played a key role in one of the nation's most explosive offenses (43.5 ppg), helping guide the Lions to their first NCAA Playoff appearance since 2009.

A graduate of University of Cincinnati, Little earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Administration in 2019 and completed his master's degree from UC in 2021.
