Beth Goderwis

Beth Goderwis enters her 23rd season overall and 22nd full season as the head softball coach at Mount St. Joseph for the 2024-25 academic year.

Under her leadership, the Lions softball program has firmly established itself as a competitive force in the NCAA Division III landscape. Putting together a 152-65 record and the Lions have consistently demonstrated their strength. The program registered three consecutive 30 win seasons from 2020-2023. In 2022 the Lions finished second in the HCAC regular season and, for the second straight year, clinched the HCAC Championship by defeating Transylvania on the road. Their success continued at the NCAA Regional in SUNY Geneseo, where they went 3-1, capturing the first regional title in program history.

In the 2020-21 season, the Lions made a historic NCAA Regional appearance, falling just one victory shy of reaching the NCAA DIII College World Series. Finishing with a 33-10 overall record and a 14-2 mark in conference play, they split the regular-season HCAC Championship. The Lions then triumphed over Transylvania in the HCAC Championship game, earning an automatic bid to Regionals. At the NCAA Regionals, Goderwis led the team to their first-ever NCAA Regional victory, posting a 3-2 record. She also reached a significant milestone that season, recording her 300th career win in another record-breaking campaign.

Before her time at the Mount, Goderwis coached fast-pitch softball and basketball at Notre Dame Academy in Kentucky and served as an assistant softball coach at Anderson High School in Cincinnati. As a player, Goderwis competed in fast-pitch softball in Columbia, S.C., where she was part of the Airport High School state runner-up teams in 1980 and 1981. She was named High School Athlete of the Year in 1981.

Goderwis also had a successful athletic career at Bath High School in Lima, Ohio, where she played both fast-pitch softball and basketball during her senior year. She helped lead the Wildcats to a district championship in softball and a regional runner-up finish in basketball in 1982. She was honored as the All Sports Athlete of the Year that same year.

In her free time, Goderwis continues to play in recreational leagues and has also enjoyed coaching basketball, furthering her passion for sports. She is a proud member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
