The College of Mount St. Joseph football team posted a school-record points output today as they put 61 points on the scoreboard in a 61-28 win at HCAC-rival Anderson University. The Mount, 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the HCAC hosts Homecoming on Oct. 17 when they take on Hanover College in HCAC action.
The previous high point total by the Lions was 56 points, which they had accomplished twice (2005, 56-14 over Bluffton University; 2007, 56-21 against Hanover College). The combined total of 89 points was the second-highest in Mount history.
The Mount jumped out to a 26-14 lead at the half, and put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Ravens 28-7 which led to a 54-21 advantage. The Lions scored points on eight straight drives during the game (seven TDs and one field goal).
The Lions' rushing attack posted 277 yards on the day and combined with 212 passing yards, the Mount offense out-gained Anderson, 489-416.
Noah Joseph (Roswell, GA/Blessed Trinity) helped lead the way offensively with three rushing TDs and 108 yards rushing (on 13 carries).
Craig Mustard (Mason, OH/Mason) was 13-of-18 passing for 204 yards, one TD and one interception.
Derick Tabar (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) led the receiving corps with four receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown.
The Mount's defense and special teams helped add to the team's scoring output, too.
Erik Prosser (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had a 22-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown while
Juan Helvey (Middletown, OH/Middletown) returned an interception 78 yards for a score, tying a Mount record for the longest interception return for a touchdown (

). Prosser had a team-high 12 tackles while
Brett Hambrick (Cincinnati, OH/Elder), two sacks; and
Alex Harbin (Cincinnati, OH/Elder), one sack and a forced fumble, led the charge up front.
Jerrick Boykin (Cincinnati, OH/Glen Este) also had an interception.ÂÂ
Brian Weimer (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) was four-for-five in extra points and made two fields goals, 40 and 41 yards.
