Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The College of Mount St. Joseph won the first game of a doubleheader today at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 5-3; and dropped the second game, 12-5, and are now 3-14 on the season, 1-3 in the HCAC. The Mount returns to action on Apr. 4 when they play a doubleheader at Capital University.

Game one saw the Lions hold a 1-0 lead heading into the fourth, when they fell behind 2-1. A three-run sixth inning would put them in control of the game, however, as they forged ahead 4-2. Kathleen Horn (Florence, KY/Boone County) had an RBI double in the decisive sixth while Casey Brookbank (Cincinnati, OH/Deer Park) added an RBI single. Each team added a run in the seventh. Katie Cohill (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) started for the Lions and tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out three batters. Horn had three hits in the game, including two doubles and two runs scored while Nell Wilson (Cincinnati, OH/Ross) also had three hits, including two doubles. The Mount turned two double plays in the game.

The Engineers jumped out to a 6-4 lead after three innings in the nightcap, and added at least one run in each of the last three innings they batted to post the game two win. Kimberly McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County), who started the game and was tagged for the loss, had two hits while Horn clouted a double and home run, driving in two runs. Tanya Sefton (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County) scored two runs for the Mount. The Lions stranded nine runners on base.
