Mount senior pitcher Katie Cohill (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) allowed a lone single in the fourth inning today as the Lions posted a 2-0 home win against HCAC-rival Defiance College. Game two of the doubleheader was rained out with the game heading into the bottom of the first inning and no score on the board. The Mount is 5-23 overall this season, 3-8 in the conference.
Megan McCullough (Middletown, OH/Middletown) got the Mount on the scoreboard in the first inning against the Yellow Jackets when she singled in Tanya Sefton (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County), who had singled. McCullough also singled in Sefton in the sixth staking the Mount to their two-run lead. Cohill retired Defiance 1-2-3 in each of the first three innings as she posted her fourth win of the 2011 season. Sefton had three hits in the game.
