The College of Mount St. Joseph jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning tonight, but was held scoreless the rest of the game as visiting Defiance College went on to a 3-1 victory. The Lions, 5-24 overall and 3-9 in the HCAC, will return to action on Apr. 29 when they play an HCAC doubleheader at Hanover College.
Megan McCullough (Middletown, OH/Middletown) doubled in Tanya Sefton (Vevay, IN/Switzerland COunty) with the Lions' lone run in the first, while the Yellow Jackets scored a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning. Kim MeElhinny pitched a complete game for the Mount, allowing two earned runs. Sefton (three hits) and McCullough (two hits) led the Lions' seven-hit attack.
