The Lions were action for two games tyoday in Florida, losing the first game to Marietta College, 6-0; and dropping the second game to Lake Forest College, 6-4. The Mount, 0-3 on the season, will be back in action on Mar. 14 against Farmingdale State College and St. Norbert College.
Marietta jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings of play against the Mount, and held the Lions to just five hits in the game. Taylor McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County) was the starting pitcher for the Mount, and was relieved by Danielle Hausfeld (Wilder, KY/Newport Central Catholic) McElhinny pitched three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) while Hausfeld tossed four innings and allowed a run. Tanya Sefton (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County) had two hits for the Lions.
Game two saw the Mount lead 4-3 after three innings of play, but unable to hold their advantage in the closing innings, as Lake Forest College plated the tying run in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth inning, with the go-ahead runs scoring on a two-run double. Mount starter Erica D'Arcy (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) was tagged with the pitching loss, pitching five innings. McElhinny blasted a two-un home in the first inning for the Lions, while Mallory Wright (Germantown, OH/Valley View) and Sefton collected two hits each.
