The College of Mount St. Joseph improved to 4-6 in the conference today after gaining a home doubleheader split over HCAC-foe Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Lions, 5-20 overall, is back in action on Apr. 11 when they play a non-conference twinbill at Denison University.

The Fightin' Engineers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after their at-bat in the fourth inning and saw the Lions end their shutout bid with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Taylor McElhinny (Crestwood, KY/Oldham County) singled in pinch runner Rachel Salzl (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills). With the Mount leading 4-1 entering the top of the sixth inning, Rose-Hulman took the lead, 5-4 in the inning. That lead was short-lived, however, as the Lions exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 9-5 lead. Both McElhinny's had an RBI in the inning, while Ashley Moore (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) had a two-run single. Rose-Hulman would add two more runs in the top of the seventh, but would fall short, 9-7. Biggs started for the Lions and pitched 5 2/3 innings. She was relieved by Erica D'Arcy (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield), who tossed 1 1/3 innings and got the win, her second of the season in six decisions.
