Mount women's volleyball team's 2014 season ends at home against Franklin College

Box Score

Franklin College took advantage of a diversified hitting attack on Wednesday night, and went on to post a 3-1 win in the Harrington Center over the Mount in a first round match of the HCAC Tourament. The Lions end the season with a 17-16 mark, while the Grizzlies move on to weekend semifinal play.

The Mount recorded a first set win of 25-23, thanks mainly to the hitting of Cheyenne Tobler (Verona, KY/St. Henry) and Hannah Losey (Tipp City, OH/Tippencanoe). Franklin, however, rebounded in a big way early on in set two, rolling out to an 11-3 lead before posting a 25-14 win. The two teams played closely throughout the majority of the third set, with Franklin jumping ahead 22-20 due to two Mount errors. The Grizzlies went on to a 25-23 win following a Lions' serving error, to jump out to a 2-1 set lead. Franklin grabbed a 10-5 lead in set three, and doubled that, with a 20-10 margin, en route to a 25-12 win in the fourth and final set, and a 3-1 victory.

Losey led the team with 14 kills while Tobler chipped in 11 kills and 15 digs. Riley Brashear (Mainveville, OH/Kings) had 26 digs and Taylor Ruder (Oxford, OH/Talawanda) added 25 digs. In her final collegiate match, the team's lone senior, Janelle Davis (Convoy, OH/Wayne Trace) had 40 assists and 10 digs.
